This is where we begin the course. A strong strategy is the foundation for everything your organisation does. In this section, you’ll take a step back to reflect on your mission, vision, and goals. You’ll explore where your organisation is now, where you want to go, and how to get there.

Using practical tools like SWOT analysis and project planning, you’ll develop strategies that are grounded in reality and aligned with your values. You’ll also have a chance to share and learn from others.

No matter the size of your organisation, managing finances in a sustainable and ethical way is essential for maintaining your operations and reaching your strategic goals. Each country has its own legislation for NGOs regarding financial management, taxation, receiving donations, and other related issues. In addition, different donors or funding institutions may have varying requirements and expectations for financial reporting.

Despite these local and institutional differences, there are some universal principles that support good financial management in NGOs. In this section, we will first explore key concepts and principles and then go deeper through practical examples and exercises.

In this section, you will learn the essentials of Data Management for grassroots non-governmental organisations. No matter how big or small your organisation, it is crucial to understand your responsibilities regarding data collection, use, and storage. Effective data management not only helps improve your operations but also ensures you remain transparent, ethical, and compliant with regulations.

In this module, you will learn about:

  • Basic and Key concepts related to Data Management,
  • Forms of Data Management,
  • GDPR rules and responsibilities,
  • Ethical Data Collection,
  • The key risks and special considerations in your organisation.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to manage data responsibly, maintain compliance, and use data to improve the effectiveness of your work!

What does Human Resources Management have to do with grassroots non-governmental organizations? - Everything! HR is about people, and so are NGOs. NGOs often work with limited resources while trying to create change in complex social issues. This makes it even more important to recruit the right people for the right tasks, and to support them and retain the staff and volunteers you already have. People also need to be trained and equipped to do their work well. All of this takes planning, time and commitment. That’s why Human resources management matters, even in small, grassroots organisations.

In this module, we’ll explore how HR in NGOs can:

  • Support meaningful and sustainable work,
  • Create fair and inclusive workplaces,
  • Help people grow and stay motivated,
  • Address challenges and difficult situations early and ethically.

Data is often something we feel distant from, but in reality, it is data that represents us. During this module, we will understand how important data is in making our voices heard, raising awareness of our struggles, and supporting our projects.

We will therefore address the importance of data, both for us as individuals and as a society. We will see that data is important in how it represents us, but we are also important in building inclusive and respectful databases. We will therefore understand that data is not neutral, just like us, and that the way it is constructed and presented changes the message it conveys.

During this course you will learn what violence against women and girls (VAWG) really is, how it manifests itself, how to recognise it and how to help women victims and survivors of VAWG to flee from violence

SRHR stands for ‘Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights’ and refers to the whole of human rights relating to sexuality and reproduction, guaranteeing people the freedom to make their own decisions about their bodies and their sexual and reproductive health.

In this section, we will therefore look at everything that includes access to information, education, health services, contraception, prevention and the freedom to live a safe and satisfying sexual and reproductive life.

Migration brings with it many challenges: separation from home and family, language difficulties, adapting to new cultures and systems, and often experiences of discrimination or loneliness. All these factors can have a profound impact on emotional and psychological well-being.

In this module, we will share stories of women supported by Fondazione Pangea and talk about mental health without taboos, sharing information and tools to support migrant women in the best possible way and discover the resources available in the area. The aim is to strengthen personal wellbeing, enhance resilience and encourage mutual support among women.

Obviously, this course does not make you a psychologist or social worker if you do not already have specific skills, but it certainly offers you a space to grow.

Throughout thIs module, you will learn how to foster inclusive and culturally sensitive communication and explore institutional barriers and strategies to overcome double victimisation.

In this module we seek to empower you as organisations and/or practitioners to better support migrant women in accessing their rights, building resilience, and becoming agents of change within your communities.
